Baby delivered with intestines outside stomach needs N3m for surgery in Osun

The parents of a new born baby, Teslim Baruwa, who was delivered with his intestines outside his abdomen, have begged the Osun State Government and other kind hearted Nigerians to save their son’s life.

Mr and Mrs Abdulramon Baruwa, of Ori Eeru, Matanmi Street, Oke Baale, Osogbo, Osun State, said since Teslim was given birth to about 17 days ago, he has been in severe pain owing to the intestines dangling outside his stomach.

They appealed for urgent assistance of members of the public to facilitate a surgery for Teslim in order for him to live a decent and healthy life.

Abdulraman Baruwa, while sobbing, said, “We have spent all we saved on this child. This is the way he was given birth to. They told us that if we take the child to Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, there will be solution through surgery. We need about N2million for this surgery. We are begging Nigerians to help us get this money and save our son’s life. This is my account details: 2159665622, UBA, Baruwa Ramon Damola.”

Teslim’s mother, in emotion ladden tone explained that she has been in panic mood since pregnancy scan revealed that the child doesn’t have intestines within his abdomen. “I had scan and they told me that the child’s intestines were not inside his stomach and that once he is delivered, they can operate on him and return the intestines to his stomach. We have spent all we had. I beg Nigerians not to allow my child to die. Please, help us,” she pleaded.

A human rights activist, Lamina Omotoyosi, also joined in appealing to Nigerians to assist the infant and his parents in getting the required money for the medical intervention.

Omotoyosi, the Executive Director, World Institute for Peace, in a video during his visit to the couple and the baby, revealed that the child has been crying and experiencing pain owing his condition.

He wrote, “I urgently appeal to philanthropists worldwide, the government of Osun State, and various organizations to assist a 15-day-old baby facing a critical health challenge.

“The child’s name is Teslim Baruwa. Tragically, at birth, his intestines were found outside of his body instead of being in their normal position within the abdomen. Since his birth, he has been in constant pain and has been crying incessantly.

“His family has sought help at several hospitals, including Osun State University Teaching Hospital (formerly known as LAUTECH), Labake Hospital, and Lifeline Hospital. Unfortunately, all three institutions have indicated that the necessary surgery can only be performed at O.A.U Teaching Hospital in Ile Ife, and the cost is estimated to be not less than 3 million Naira.

“Teslim’s parents are hardworking individuals who have already exhausted their savings to provide for their son’s medical needs.

“I earnestly urge the Osun State Government, through the Ministry of Health, to take immediate action to assist this vulnerable family and their innocent child before it is too late.

“For those who wish to support this little boy, please consider making a financial donation to his father’s bank account:

“Account Number: 2159665622

Bank Name: UBA

Account Name: Baruwa Rahmon Damola

“If you would like to meet the child in person, please contact his father at 08063587173. They reside at Ori Eeru, Matanmi Street, Oke Baale, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria.

“I implore the Osun State Government to provide assistance to this child before it is too late.”
