Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr. Oluwadare Kehinde has said government will continue to create an enabling environment for sports to thrive in the State.
Kehinde stated this in his office at Moshood Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, while receiving athletes who won laurels for the State last year in various sporting competitions such as Boxing, Cricket, Karate, Para-Table tennis and Wrestling.
Appreciating the athletes for their accomplishments, the Commissioner assured them that necessary arrangements would be made to boost their morale, pledging to do all within his capacity to encourage and motivate them for greater exploits.
Kehinde noted that the State governments’ investment in youth development has been yielding results, saying more efforts would be intensified to boost the sector at the grassroot level.
Also speaking, the Director of Sports in the State Sport Council, Mrs. Iyabo Rotimi appreciated the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his support over the years.
Responding the Boxing Coach, Yinka Adeoti said the sports council would continue to engage their athlete in more competitions and explore opportunities around them to build them for international wins.
In attendance at the reception were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr. Olayiwola Abiodun, Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr. Tunji Kalejaiye, other Directors in the Ministry and State Sport Council.
