ABIODUN ADMONISHES NIGERIANS TO SHUN VIOLENCE, PURSUE PEACE

  

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on Nigerians to reject all forms of violence, as it is important for the people to continue to cohabit peacefully, work and relate with one another with love and understanding.


Prince Abiodun who made this call at the 108th Convention in session of the Nigeria Baptist Convention, at Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with the theme, "Moving Forward, Finishing  the Race With Joy", said citizens of the country should also endeavor to live up to the challenges of the present time and help each other in the service of different communities and humanity.

Abiodun, while  urging the people to continue praying for God's blessings upon the land, in order to continue living in constant abundance of every good thing,  and have the  fear God in the conduct of their affairs.

"Most importantly, we must reject violence, pursue peace with one another, and begin to work in love and understanding, that is what our heavenly father expects from us.

"I charge us all to rise to up to the challenges of our time and to sincerely help ourselves in the service of our different communities  and humanity, we must continue to pray for God's blessings upon our land, so that our people will live in constant abundance of every good thing, we need to continue to fear God in the conduct of our affairs," he said.

The State helmsman, while commending the Baptist Family for its contribution to the development of the country through its various intervention in the health and educational sectors of the country, added that the church should continue to seek the face of God for the unity and economic stability of the country.

In a remark, his Oyo State counterpart, Engr. Seyi Makinde noted that even though the country is facing security and economic challenges,  but promised that the Federal Government would not deter in its commitment to make the country a better place for all of its citizens.

Makinde applauded the smooth transition of authority of the retiring President of the Convention to the new president, calling on the church to continue praying  for government to surmount issues of insecurity that is threatening the economic development of the country.

Also speaking , a former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, urged the Baptist Family to continue to work closely for the progress of  the country, charging  the people to be steadfast and  prayerful.
