The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has assured that his administration will continue to build on its business-friendly policy and relationship with investors, in order to strengthen the current status of the State, as the industrial hub of the country.
Governor Abiodun who stated this during the closing ceremony of the 10th Gateway International Trade Fair 2021, reiterated that his administration remained committed to the promotion of commercial activities and empowerment of the people.
Represented by his Deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the State helmsman said the theme for 2021 Fair was apt, because of its conformity with the agenda of government, to make agriculture an important backbone of the economy.
He added that agriculture is key to the industrial growth and development of any economy, saying another major platform on which development stands, is Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), due to its contribution to accelerating industrialisation and employment.
‘’We have created the Ogun State Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency, Office of Public Private Partnership and Bureau of Public Procurement to allow the State continue to be first choice of destination for Foreign Direct Investment, while bottlenecks associated with the initial documentation for new investors and improving the ease of doing business in our State have been removed’’, he said.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe said the State has been diversifying its economy through the development of the solid mineral sector, promotion of agricultural value-chain and creating enabling environment for big industries, as well as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to flourish.
Longe assured that the Ministry would provide necessary support to ensure the success of their investments, while calling on investors to take advantage of the attractive business environment in the State.
Earlier in his remarks, the President, Ogun State Council of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, said over 100 participants from Niger Republic, Cameroon and Benin Republic were part of the Trade Fair, adding that Multinational and International companies, as well as MSMEs had their representatives.
