WE’RE COMMITTED TO PROVIDING BASIC HEALTH CARE FOR ALL-OGSG

The Ogun State Government has said it is committed to achieving the Universal Health Coverage, through the provision of basic health care that will cut across all residents in the nooks and crannies of the State.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, gave the assurance in Abeokuta, while fielding questions from newsmen, on the occasion of the 2021 World Health Day, saying access to qualitative and affordable healthcare services remained one of the goals of the present administration, to improve the well being of the people.

Speaking on the theme for the Day, "Building a Fairer and Healthier World", Coker said no society could have sustainable development without good health, noting that every resident, regardless of age, religion and gender should participate in achieving the Prince Dapo Abiodun's ‘Building Our Future Together’ agenda for the benefit of all.

The Commissioner stated that the State government had embarked on health financing project, through the implementation of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund, for the vulnerable across the 20 Local Government Areas, adding that plans were in top gear for the launch of the Health Insurance Scheme for both the formal and informal sectors.

‘’The Dapo Abiodun-led administration has demonstrated its commitment to healthcare for all, through the renovation and equipping of primary health centers across the State, provision of 24-hour Ambulance services and massive investment in secondary and tertiary health facilities’’, Coker said.

She advised residents of the State to develop a proactive disposition to their health, by going for regular medical check-ups and accessing services at the government health facilities closer to them.
