Buhari Must Go: CAN breaks silence on alleged arrest of activists in Dunamis Church

The Christian Association of Nigeria has reacted to the alleged arrest of #BuhariMustGoActivists in Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja.

The details news recalls that some youths recently stormed the church at Glory Dome Abuja, dressed in #BuhariMustGo T-shirts and were arrested by the Department of State Security Service, DSS.

The incident stimulated controversy as some activists including Omoyele Sowore insisted that they were napped by the church’s security and were handed over to the secret police who whisked the youths to unknown destination.

But the church management, in a statement subsequently, said the church had no hand in the arrest, stressing that they were nabbed by DSS outside the church’s premises.

The founder and Senior Pastor of the church, Dr. Paul Enenche has been under verbal attacks from some activists accusing him of supporting bad governance which birthed the BuhariMustGo movement.

Reacting to the controversy, CAN, in a statement issued on Monday by its National General Secretary, Daramola Bade Joseph. Esq said “attacks on Dunamis ongodly, unacceptable and reprehensible.

CAN urged the sponsors of the protest to settle their grievances with the DSS and not the church saying, “venue for such a protest shouldn’t be the church premises, a place of worship”.

“What happened on that day was unprecedented in the history of the Church in the country. Whenever we direct churches to embark upon any peaceful protest, within and outside the church premises, we always make it known publicly and we have never asked any group of people to join us.

“While we are calling on the concerned security agency to release those who are in its custody over the unlawful actions, on humanitarian grounds, we are also warning any group of people against the further desecration of any of our churches in the country,” the statement added.
