CONTINUE TO SUPPORT GOVT TO TACKLE INSECURITY, HoS URGES NSCDC

CONTINUE TO SUPPORT GOVT TO TACKLE INSECURITY, HoS URGES NSCDC

Officers and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have been called upon to continue to support government in tackling the security challenge confronting the State and nation as a whole.

Ogun State Head of Service, Alhaja Selimot Ottun made the call while receiving the newly deployed Corps Commandant of NSCDC, Ogun State Command, Commandant Kolawole Taiwo, who led other members of the Corps on a familiarisation visit to her office at Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

Alhaja Ottun said security challenges are very high in the country and the State government believes so much in security agencies' efforts at tackling them, as no meaningful development can take place where security of lives and property is lacking.

"The security challenge is very high in the country and the government believes so much in security agencies and yours is not left out to tackle it; you will agree with me that Ogun has been working assiduously with all stakeholders in the State. I want to urge you to continue to support the government because the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration believes in collaboration, that is why his door is opened to everyone and I know that your Command will continue to support him in securing the people and protecting properties in the State”.

“If you cooperate, government will continue to support you and I want to vouch for the present administration that it is very committed to protecting lives and property in the State" Alhaja Ottun assured.

Speaking in the same vein, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Dahunsi Ogunleye and his counterparts from the Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, as well as that of the Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Alhaji Olanrewaju Saka assured that the government would continue to create an enabling environment to tackle all challenges as they surface and requested for sustained cordial relationship between the Command and the government as well as strengthen the Command's feedback mechanisms in order to fish out bad eggs who are bent on spoiling the whole among the Officers.

Reeling out security measures put in place by the government to include the re-launch of the Security Trust Fund, launch of the Amotekun Corps, procurement of patrol vans, among others, the Permanent Secretaries urged the new Commandant to intensify efforts at contributing to the peace and tranquility of the state, while grey areas that might affect the smooth working relationship between it and the government be looked into.

Earlier, the Corps Commandant, Commander Kolawole Taiwo said the visit was embarked upon to appreciate government's good gesture, cooperation and synergy with the Command and solicited for more support to fulfill the core mandate of protecting the citizenry and critical national assets.
