OGUN CoS CHARGES MEDIA, OTHER STAKEHOLDERS ON REBRANDING NIGERIA’S IMAGE

OGUN CoS CHARGES MEDIA, OTHER STAKEHOLDERS ON REBRANDING NIGERIA’S IMAGE

The need for media practitioners and other stakeholders to rebrand Nigeria’s image, with a charge to take responsibility of changing the negative narratives of corruption that has continued to affect the society, has been emphasised.

Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu stated this while declaring open a sensitisation workshop in Abeokuta on "Value Orientation and the Fight Against Corruption" organised by the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ogun State Directorate.

Alhaji Salisu said it is important to create awareness among the people, recognise  limitations and give less focus to negative issues, advising men of the pen profession and other stakeholders involved in disseminating information, to always give prominence to actions that extol values and ethos of a country.

"There is an urgent need for all of us, particularly our clerics, education stakeholders, the Nollywood sector and other related entertainers to take it as a national responsibility to begin to recreate citizens’ mindset towards a greater nation that we all crave for", he stated.

In his remark, State Director NOA, Mr. Sola Babalola noted that the workshop was conceived as an avenue to addressing bastardisation of societal values and ethos, that led to corruption and other practices, which had greatly affected the economy of the country and every other stratum.

"There is need for all of us to take conscious, resolute and determined effort towards addressing our values that have been eroded. We have to remain patriotic, focused and ensure value restoration as the way out of this malady", he added.
