  OGUN GOVT REITERATES COMMITMENT TO YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

The Ogun State Government remains committed to youth advancement that will motivate and redirect their mindset to engender more productivity in life, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi has restated.


Talabi made this position of government public while receiving the Ogun Youth Ambassador and winner of Big Brother Naija Season 5, Olamilekan Agbeleshe, popularly known as ‘Laycon’, who had earlier presented a proposal to the government on youth empowerment.

According to the SSG, the present administration was poised to support initiatives that are targeted at youth empowerment which is a pivot for sustainable development of the State's emerging economy.

He commended the strides of the brand ambassador and his team, on their mission to reawaken youths’ consciousness in the area of entertainment, health and sports, saying government places high premium on meaningful engagement of youths, as a major panacea to economic prosperity of the society.

"It is very good to see youths driving the motivation of other young ones in the society. Youth development is one of the driving pillars of Governor Abiodun's action plan for ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda. This is indeed a very laudable project with different phase.

"Anything that has to do with youth engagement is part of the prescribed future for the State, we are indeed privilege to have you as our brand ambassador, and we promise to look at the proposal for further consideration and action", he assured.

Earlier in his presentation, Agbeleshe said he was determined to complement the various effort of Prince Dapo Abiodun led government on youth empowerment, to redirect young people’s minds by channeling their energy to productive dealings with focus on entertainment, health and sports.

"Ogun is one of the leading States that is promoting youth empowerment, we are proud to associate with the government and complement its efforts towards youth engagement to engender more productivity, which will serve as an avenue to re-discover hidden talents in them.

"We hereby use this medium to appreciate Prince Dapo Abiodun for his leadership style of governance and for recognising the brand ‘Laycon’ as a great influencer and mentor to our younger ones. Our plan is to use this upcoming project as a leverage towards creating positive impact on youths across board", he submitted.

Other political functionaries present at the meeting include, the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alh. Waheed Odusile, his Youth and Sports counterpart, Hon. Oluwadare Kehinde, Senior Special Assistants on New Media and Youth Matters, Hon. Emmanuel Ojo and Hon. Olamide Lawal respectively.
