  OGUN MONITORS BECE, PROMOTIONAL EXAMS, COMMISSIONS SCIENCE LABORATORIES

The State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has monitored the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) for learners in the Junior Secondary Schools Three (JSS 3) and the 2020/2021 Unified Promotion examination across the State.        

Leading the monitoring team to some schools in the Ijebu axis of the State, Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu revealed that the level of preparedness of the schools and students was quite impressive.

Arigbabu said that the conduct was smooth which shows that effort and the arrangement put in place by the government towards ensuring better performance had been utilised, pointing out that the introduction of the OMR sheets was to give better credence to the exercise.

"I am quite impressed with all that I have seen so far, the level of preparation put in place have been superb, the conduct is smooth, students are well arranged and teachers are on ground to invigilate, examination materials arrived early enough for prompt conduct", he buttressed.

The Commissioner expressed optimism that the smooth conduct of the examination would be preserved throughout the duration of the exercise, admonishing the students to aspire to achieve their academic goals, which would give them the platform to attain greater heights in life.

Some of the schools visited were Anglican Girls' Grammar School, Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Luba Comprehensive High School, Muslim Girl's High School, Tai Solarin University of Education Secondary School, Ijebu-ode, among others.

In a related development, the Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu has commended the 1979 set Old Students' Association of the Luba Comprehensive School, Ijebu-Ode for rehabilitating the school’s science laboratories (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) which according to him would further enhance the academic performance of the students and enable them compete favourably with their colleagues in other schools.

Prof. Arigbabu described education as necessary investment in the current global community of information and technology which must be embraced with the seriousness that it deserves, saying the era when education was acquired in crowded and stressful classes has gone in the State with the huge investments of the current administration in the sector.

 

In his address, the Protem President, Alumni Association 1979 set of the School, Surveyor Yinka Quadri represented by Mr. Tunde Ositelu submitted that the project was embarked upon as a way of reciprocating the solid foundation which their alma mater gave them, saying this made them to be reckoned with in their different endeavours and in the society as a whole.

On her part, the school’s Principal, Mrs. Mopelola Hassan appreciated the Prince Dapo Abiodun led-administration's numerous achievements that have caused a total turn around to the education sector in the State, noting that the generosity of the Old Students Association will linger on in the history of the school.
