Olota Installs New Baale For Iyesi-Ota In Ogun


The Olota of Ota, HRM Prof. Adeyemi Obalan­lege has installed Chief Ahmed Babatunde Olufemi popularly known as ‘Fobai’ as the new Baale of Iyesi, Ota, Ogun State.

In a letter given to the new Baale of Iyesi, Ota, and obtained by Dai­ly Independent, Chief Babatunde Olufemi, who is from the Isalu stock of Iyesi, Ota, was installed on ‘merit after due con­sultations with the rul­ing families in Iyesi, the kingmakers and other relevant stakeholders in the community’.

The new Baale was advised by Olota to see his installation as a call to further serve the peo­ple of Iyesi and to grow the community into a world class society.

“It is important to note that the appoint­ment was on merit and should be seen as a call to further serve the good people of Iyesi, Ota and Awori Kingdom at large,” the letter reads in part.

In a chat with the head of Isalu, a ruling family in Iyesi, Ota, Mr. Ahmed Yahaya, other­wise known as Banuso, said, “The selection of Chief Babatunde as the new Baale in Iyesi, Ota, is one that has been ordained by God; his choice is a popular one within the family and the community owing to his wide acceptability.”

Chief Babatunde Olufemi, who is the MD/ CEO of Fobai Company Limited, a successful businessman and grass­roots mobiliser, said, “There was a strong tussle in the wake of my choice, but the family and community even­tually decided to throw their weight behind me because of the trust and love which they have for me. The Isalu rul­ing house is one of the foremost families that settled in Iyesi and they have been occupying the position over time.”

Olufemi assured indi­genes and residents of Iyesi, Ota, of ‘instant development’ as his net­work is rich enough to attract viable projects to the ancient town.
