Sunday Igboho to be transferred to another detention centre, in Benin Republic.
The embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, will be transferred to another detention centre in Benin Republic. The order was given by the Court D’Appel De Cotonou, after Ighoho’s lawyer complained that his fundamental rights were being abused.
It was reported earlier that the Yoruba Nation agitator had chains on his leg and handcuffs on him. It was later gathered that the chains and handcuffs has been taken away from him.
Before the order for him to be transferred to another detention centre was given, Igboho had been at the Brigade Criminelle detention centre. Though the new detention center is not known yet,Igboho would possibly be moved to Cotonou Civil Prison.
Recall that Igboho who was arrested last week appeared in court on Monday, July 26. The details of the court hearings are still sketchy because it was a secrete hearing. No journalist was allowed into the court.
After the 13-hour hearing, which ended around 11:20 pm, on Monday, Igboho was returned to cell.
It was reported by that police dispersed the supporters and journalists who gathered at the court premises.
