Adogun Atele Family Lays Claim To Itele Obaship Stool, Urges Gov Abiodun To Intervene

Adogun Atele Family Lays Claim To Itele Obaship Stool, Urges Gov Abiodun To Intervene

Chief Taoridi Dada, head of the Adogun Atele family of Itele-Ota in Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, has on behalf of the four ruling houses of the family declared their sole right to the obaship title of Itele land, urging the state Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene to forestall breakdown of law and order in the area.

Chief Dada made the declaration at a press briefing on behalf of Ogunrounbi, Oosa, Imidawo and Alagbeji ruling houses, whom he claimed were judicially affirmed by a Supreme Court ruling of December 16, 2011 as the founders and first settlers of Itele land and solely eligible to the stool of Onitele of Itele Awori.

The family accused Oba (Prof) Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, Olota of Ota, of being behind the obaship crisis, who in support of their customary tenants allegedly supported the nomination of one Mr. Ademola Eletu Asorota, a member of their families for the stool.

Part of the press release reads, “Please be reminded that some of our customary tenants held a press conference at Ota in 11, August, 2021, on the directive of Olota of Ota, Kabiru Adeyemi Obalanlege, Mr. Olanrewaju and Mr. Ademola Asorota as a mark of protest to the directives of the Ogun State House of Assembly which stopped Ademola Asorota and Olota from parading Ademola Asorota as Onitele of Itele land, which was surreptitiously carried out at the palace of the Olota of Ota, especially when Ado Ota Local Government had denied the purported election that produced Asorota as Onitele.”
