Though no death had been officially reported, it was gathered  that many persons in the community had manifested symptoms of cholera compelling the swift intervention of the state government.

Chairman of Degema LGA, Michael John Williams, led a team of medical personnel to the kingdom to assess the situation.

A statement by the Press Secretary to chairman, Daerefa-a Christopher Braide, said the visit was in response to the outbreak of cholera and other waterborne diseases threatening the kingdom.

Williams, at the Palace of the Amanyanabo of Bille Kingdom, HRH King Igbikingeri Ngowari Cornelius Herbert, Agbaniye-Jike XVIII, said the visit was to seek ways to address the development.
