Sacked Kano Commissioner’s comments on Afghanistan generates backlash on social media

Muazu Magaji, former commissioner for works and infrastructure in Kano State who was suspended in 2020 by the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over “unguarded utterances” on the demise of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari has expressed joy over the current crisis rocking Afghanistan.

Recall that Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Sunday, fled the country as the Taliban entered the capital Kabul, meeting little resistance to recapture the country.

According to a report from BBC, the fleeing president’s departure signalled the collapse of the government in the war-torn country.

Reacting to the crisis, the sacked commissioner who was later reappointed as Chairman State Gas Pipeline Project Delivery and Gas Industrialization Committee in the state, said “It is a WIN-WIN in Afghanistan today”.

He made the reaction known in a post on his official Facebook page on Monday.

His reaction triggered a backlash from some social media users who tackled him for making such comments.

Aliyu Dahiru Aliyu, on his verified Twitter, handled accused him of supporting extremists, stating that some politicians are only after offices.

“When I said some politicians are supporting extremists because they are only thinking of how to win the next election, these kinds of politicians were on my mind. They join radicals in manipulating the minds of people by showing them as if extremism is the solution to their woes”, he tweeted.

@deardamsek2 also wrote on Twitter, “An average northern politician is an extremist. They like those radical views because it hides their corruption like it is hiding Ganduje ‘s own in kano. They know the people will forgive any crime as long their religion is enthroned to the detriment of others”.
