The Attack Of Ooni Of Ife's Palace By Angry Mourners Over Killings Of 5 Farmers By Bandits Is Wrong

The tension began on Friday when motorcyclists who were members of the Modakeke engaged residents of Ile-Ife after five farmers were discovered dead in their farms along Toro road. The angry mourners who were on motorcycles, tricycles reportedly attempted to invade the palace of the traditional ruler of Ile-Ife carrying corpses of the five victims.

The invaders were however stopped by the security as they tried to gain entrance into the palace of the traditional ruler. According to a traditional leader in the Modakeke group, Mr. Femi Eluyinka, the invaders were stopped by members of the community accompanied by the Police. Some of them were taken away and the corpses seized and evacuated from the gate.

In our today's political report, we will be looking at the incident once again. We will also deduce reasons why the action of the invaders is indeed wrong and condemnable.

After looking at differing arguments concerning the action of the angry mourners that attacked the palace of Ooni of Ife over the killing of five farmers by bandits, we have decided to come up with reasons why their actions are wrong.

• The first mistake those mourners made was carrying corpses to the palace of Ooni of Ife. I think their action clearly shows that they were bitter and angry towards the killing. Although it is right for them to feel enraged over the killings of five of their community members, it is, however, wrong for them to attack the palace of Ooni in such a manner.

• The second mistake the mourners made was displaying the bodies of the deceased in public in such, manner. I think they shouldn't have done that. Their action clearly shows a lack of respect for the deceased. I think they deserved to be punished for doing such in a public place.

• The third thing they did which is wrong is attacking and causing unnecessary traffic for other members of the public. The mourners endangered their lives and the lives of others in the process. I think they did wrong.

What is your view on this?.
