Gov Abiodun signs Anti-Open Grazing Bill into law

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has signed the Anti-Open Grazing Bill in Ogun State into law.

The governor signed the bill into law at his Oke-Mosan office on Thursday, September 30.

Great Achiever Magazine reports that the law prohibits the open rearing and grazing of livestock in any part of the State, except in designated areas.

Abiodun said it will eliminate the usual attendant clashes between livestock herders and crop farmers as a result of open grazing.

According to the governor, "The law follows the decision of all Southern Governors, and will bring a number of agro-economic benefits when it becomes effective in six months.

"What is of utmost importance is the security of lives and property, and the convenience of all players in the agriculture industry, and a safer place for investors".
