  Residents Protest Deplorable State Of Ota Roads, commend Gov. Abiodun's efforts



In a bid to make democracy an all inclusive, the residents of Ota have commended governor Dapo Abiodun's efforts in fixing Osi - Ikola road aswell protest the deplorable state of other roads in Ota.

A group of protesters, under the umbrella of #FixedOtaroads, stormed the ancient town on Monday to protest the sorry state of the roads with placards of various inscriptions like Buhari: Our roads concern you, ‘Fashola stop looking away, among others to draw the attention of the government to the deplorable state of the roads.


One of the protesters, Mr Adekunle Ogunbode, said the protest became necessary, considering the daily experience of resident adding that it is disheartening, seeing the magnitude of the endless catastrophe and havoc caused by the deplorable state of Ota roads.

"We have been forced to cope with a situation beyond our power. Some residents working in Lagos have abandoned the area for now, while others only come home during the weekends.

“We are here to let the government know that the suffering of our people is limitless. We are only appealing to government to come to our aid in order to improve on socio-economic of the area.

 

A resident, Mr Ayo Abraham, described the current state of Sango-Ota roads as a big threat to socio-economic development calling on Government to expedite actions as the situation requires urgent attention.



Recalling that Ota with its strategic location of linking Nigeria to other West African countries and host of a good number of industries in the state, coupled with its proximity to Lagos State calls on government to look into their plight for the betterment of all.
