Women Affairs Ministry budgets N100m for three extra floors at Headquarters

Three extra floors to the already built five-storey headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs have been considered by the ministry to expand her accommodation of all relevant partners in one location.

It was gathered that the sum of N100,000,000 has been earmarked for this purpose in the 2022 budget of the ministry, now before the national assembly for consideration.

The amount is captured in the ERGP 27172850 described as “Construction of additional 3 floors to the existing headquarters building” the new project in the ministry was allotted N100m for the fiscal year of 2022.

Recently, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Engr Olufunso Adebiyi, in his meeting with the staff of the ministry alluded to a shortage of accommodation at the headquarters of the ministry to satisfy the accommodation concerns.

He said that the plans to have development partners in the building headquarters for seamless operation and responses to matters of mutual concerns, as it related to the assignments they have was urgent and would drive results faster.

In his words “We are planning to introduce workstations, and we are also planning to accommodate some development partners to set up their offices in the ministry’s building so that they can bring in their facilities and open such up for staff official access.”

This was part of the statement by the ministry, as contained in the statement signed by, Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr Olujimi Oyetomi.

Insurance for the building is an ongoing initiative that has a budget of N355 million.

It was also learnt that “N354,500,000″ was assigned to cover the ” furniture and insurance of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs headquarters building and equipment.”

It also captured another “N125,000,000” on the “ERGP 30172383” for the “purchase and installation of office equipment” which it said was an ongoing project.

The computerisation process of the ministry which it termed a new project would gulp another N320 million from the ministry.

“ERGP 2917657” for “process digitisation and complete computerisation of the ministry’s activities in the planning, research and statistics department” N150 million was allocated for this.

Despite this spendings, the ministry dashed another N170 million to what it described as “preparation and digitalisation of standard operating procedure of the ministry’s activities, department by department” a new project captured on its ERGP30172184.

For an effective public understanding of the programmes by the ministry, the sum of N25.2 was allocated for what the budget captured as “ERGP30172359 design and implementation of communication strategy for the ministry” which remained an ongoing process.
