AOOLG BOSS ADVISES MOTORISTS TO GET ROAD WORTHINESS OF THEIR VEHICLES

The Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Musa has urged motorists in Ado-Odo Ota to test their vehicles' road worthiness to reduce road accidents to the  bearest minimum and also improve life expectancy.

The Chairman made the call while hosting the newly posted Ogun West Zonal Commander of the Vehicle Inspection Office, Engr. Mrs. Olugbenga Oluwatoyin at the Local Government Secretariat, Ota.

Musa promised to throw his weight behind VIO's activities by ensuring enforcement of vehicular testing in the Council Area, as a yardstick of reducing road accidents.

Speaking earlier, the VIO boss in Ogun  West Engr. Mrs. Olugbenga Oluwatoyin said, motorists should understand that when road worthiness certificate of their vehicle is paid for, there is always an attached referral note indicating that the vehicle be taken to VIO testing centre which most people overlook out of ignorance. 

She added that Ogun State Chapter of Vehicle Inspection Office has determined to take drastic actions against any motorist driving without road worthinrss certificate of his or her vehicle, across the state, adding that the inspection certificate would be used to determine vehicles that are safe to move on the roads.

Engr. Olugbenga further disclosed that payment for the test, which according to her, is now computerised to alleviate human error, goes along with road worthiness certificate of the vehicle, cautioning motorists to ensure strict compliance as serious sanction awaits offenders.

The Head of Local Government Administration Dr. Adebola Bamgbose  appreciated the newly posted Commander for the timely visit to the Council assuring  her of the Local Government's cooperation in sensitising the public on the need for motorists to get their vehicles checked.
