 OGUN ICT BUREAU GIVES  SUPPORT TO ENHANCE AGRIC PRODUCTION PROCESSES

 Towards enhancing modern agricultural production processes, the Ogun State Bureau of Information Technology has trained Information Technology (IT) Officers in realisation of the government’s ‘ISEYA’ mantra on food security.

   

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Mr. Dayo Abiodun, while speaking during a 3-day advancement training for the Officers at Tech hub, Kobape, Abeokuta emphasised the need to sharpen their skills to become key trainers to the Ministry of Agriculture for the effective usage of the newly-established Ogun State Agricultural Land and Procurement Portal (ALAP), alap.ogunstate.gov.ng.

Mr. Abiodun, represented by the Director, Standard Regulations and Planning in the Bureau, Mrs. Olatundun Adekunte stated that the portal would allow individuals or groups who were interested in agriculture to access land locations across the State, know the type of soil in those areas based on crops to plant, procurement and payment online without stress.

He said the initiative of the government to train, develop and manage information technology expertise, would save the cost of hiring experts and generate revenue.

   "Apart from what they have learned in higher institutions, the State government is investing knowledge in the IT Officers to become a first and second line of support to agricultural digitalisation procedures, to ensure long term food security. They would automatically become tutors at the Ministry of Agriculture who will be managing activities of subscribers on the portal", Abiodun explained.

   Some of the participants at the training, Mr. Adebowale Oladimeji and Mrs. Olawunmi Banjo appreciated the State government for the opportunity, promising to reciprocate the gesture with hard work.
