Hoodlums enforcing a sit-at-home protest in Enugu, Enugu State capital, on Monday attacked a park where inter-state transport vehicles were loading.

The hoodlums shot consistently as they dispersed passengers, burning a Sienna vehicle and killing no fewer than two persons in the incident that happened on Monday morning.

Some passengers and drivers also suffered gunshot injuries as they attempted to run for their dear lives.

Driver of the burnt Sienna, who escaped being killed, narrated how the hoodlums stormed the park while he was still waiting for passengers to fill the vehicle.

The driver, who is used to loading very early every Monday to beat the sit-at-home, said he was standing a distance away from his vehicle when the gunmen arrived in a mini bus.

The man, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said he felt they were armed robbers and continued to move away from the vicinity as quick as he could.

“By the time I looked back to see what was happening my Sienna was up in flames.

“I learned about two persons were reported to have been shot dead during the attack which lasted few minutes”, the man said.

One of the victims, it was learnt, was reported to be a passenger.
