1,348 Of 30,979 PVC Collected In Edo — INEC


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Edo State, on Saturday, stated that out of the 30,979 Permanent Voters Card (PVC) ready for collection in the state, only 1,348 have so far been collected.

The commission’s officer, in charge of voter education, Timidi Wariowei, disclosed this at the weekend in Benin while speaking to journalists on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration in the state.

Wariowei said, “As of January 2022, we had a total of 30,979 Permanent Voters Card for distribution and collection. But of these numbers, only 1,348 PVCs have so far been collected by their owners.”

He lamented that the collection is not encouraging and called on the people to come and collect their PVCs to enable them to vote in the forthcoming 2023 election.

Wariowei further disclosed that in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration, the commission has registered about 69,448 persons in the state.

“Between April and last Friday, a total of 69,448 persons; comprising 35,475 male and 33,973 female have been registered in the ongoing CRV,” he said.

He explained that the commission registered 5,147 in Akoko-Edo; 4,222 in Egor; 318 in Esan Central; Esan North East, 2,207; Esan South East, 1,246; Esan West, 1,340; Etsako Central, 618; and Etsako East, 404; during the period.

Others includes; Etsako West, 2,144; Igueben, 1,122; Ikpoba-Okha, 23,651; Oredo, 19,430; Orhionmwon, 2,141; Ovia South West, 2,398; Owan East, 1,898; Owan West, 2,999; and Uhunmwonde 1,888.

He however noted that the turnout for the ongoing exercise is very impressive in the state.
