Two Yahoo Boys who bought N56 million duplexes arrested with four other internet fraudsters


Two internet fraudsters who were said to have bought two semi-detached duplexes worth N56 million at a location in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, were among six cyber criminals arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during raid on a hotel they lodged in Benue State, the commission announced on Wednesday, July 27.

The six young men, whose names were given as Idoko Emmanuel Ofu, Abbah Ogbaah, Idoko James Peter, Aduma James Oche, Ito James and Atayi Daniel, were said to have been arrested at Amichi Hotel in Orokam, Benue State, following intelligence reports gathered about their internet crime activities by the operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the commission.


The arrested young men, as posted by the EFCC on its Twitter handle on Wednesday.

It was gathered that the operatives carried out an early morning raid on the hotel they lodged in and arrested the six internet fraudsters last Saturday after the operatives received a tip-off about their lifestyles in the hotel.

According to a statement by the anti graft agency posted on its Twitter handle on Wednesday, preliminary investigation about the internet fraudsters revealed that two of the Yahoo Boys bought two semi-detached duplexes in a private estate at Life Camp, Abuja, said to be worth over N56 million.

The statement added that at the point of their arrest, items found with them included two Mercedes Benz GLK 350, one Mercedes Benz C300, several mobile phones, one international passport, one Apple laptop and incriminating documents said to have been used to defraud their unsuspecting victims, especially foreigners.

The statement added that they had made useful statements to the operatives of the commission while they are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
