Group offers medical services to over 350 Lagos indigents

A NON-GOVERNMENTAL Organisation (NGO), Heritage Advancement Forum (HAF), which is committed to serving the community, has offered free medical services to no fewer than 350 less-privileged people in Idi-Araba, Lagos State.


The beneficiaries enjoyed free medical check-up on hypertension, diabetes, malaria treatment, free eye test, scaling and teeth polishing. President of HAF, Aaron Irabor, who spoke at the event, said the free medical service was targeted at ensuring that people in the community get healthy lifestyle and take precautionary measures on their well-being.


He said: “Heritage Advancement Forum helps the widows, youths and offers scholarships to children. We campaign vigorously against the use of hard drugs (drug abuse) by young adults, sponsor children through schools from primary to secondary levels by imparting knowledge to them and offer free medical services to poor people and prisoners through our certified medical personnel.


“We have 70 members (40 per cent in Diaspora and 60 per cent in Nigeria). Members are the ones who raised the funds used to help these people. HAF is currently sponsoring 10 children in their education. Parents of these children are happy.”


According to Vice President of the organisation, Odion Anegbode, a lot of people is benefiting from this medical outreach and there were some medications that they had to make available due to peculiar situations, adding that where they are not available, our medical personnel may prescribe to them on what to get.


A beneficiary, Abubakar Ibrahim, thanked the organisation for the medical outreach, saying: “Health is Wealth.” He promised to make judicious use of the medicines given to him.
