Two BRT buses collide in Lagos, leaving many injured

Two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses collided head-on on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Tuesday morning.


The accident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on the exclusive BRT corridor, just in front of Conoil at Valley Estate, inward IleZik.


The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in a statement on its X account, said the impact of the incident on traffic was reported to be minimal.


LASTMA, however, noted that its officers and other concerned authorities, including the Nigerian Police Force, were on the ground to manage the situation.


In another related event, another two BRT buses collided head-on Tuesday morning in the bustling Dopemu area of Lagos and injuring passengers.


The accident unfolded on the exclusive BRT corridor, resulting in numerous injuries.


The cause of the accident is yet to be known but eyewitnesses said that one of the buses may have lost control and swerved into the oncoming lane.
