75-year-old Edo pilgrim buried in Mecca after sudden death
A 75-year-old female pilgrim from Edo State, who is participating in the ongoing 2025 Hajj exercise, Mrs. Adizatu Danzumi, has been reported dead.
The deceased who hailed from Jattu Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area of the State, died on Monday, May 26, 2025, at King Fahad General Hospital, in Makkah, after a brief illness.
News of her death was announced in a WhatsApp voice note Tuesday morning, May 27, 2025, by the Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh.
He, however, did not disclose the nature of her illness.
“Mrs. Adizatu was hospitalized on Sunday, May 25, 2025, after (Tawaaf) following a short illness and succumbed to her condition the following day.
“In accordance with Islamic rites, Mrs. Adizatu was buried in Makkah on the evening of the same day she passed away.
“The Chairman of the Board has since contacted her family in Jattu Uzairue to inform them of the tragic development,” Mallam Uduimoh said.
