ASSAULTED CORP MEMBER IN ANAMBRA GOT RESTITUTION, GOVERNMENT TO PROSECUTE OFFICERS – GOVERNOR SOLUDO

ASSAULTED CORP MEMBER IN ANAMBRA GOT RESTITUTION, GOVERNMENT TO PROSECUTE OFFICERS – GOVERNOR SOLUDO

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, Executive Governor of Anambra State, has condemned the recent assault on a corps member in the State by officials of the State Security Outfit, otherwise known as Agunechemba.

In a recent interview on Arise Primetime on Wednesday, August 20th, 2025, the Governor assured Ndi Anambra and residents of the State that their security and welfare is the utmost priority of his administration.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to the structure of its first key pillar, which is Security, Law and Order, which focuses on maintaining peace, safety, and order within the state, and ensuring the protection of lives and property.

“Under no circumstances should anyone be treated in that manner, notwithstanding the crime they have committed”, Governor Soludo echoed during the interview. “Immediately, we heard of the unfortunate incident, our men swung into action and apprehended the officers who assaulted the corps member. My government has also made some form of restitution to the victim by ensuring adequate medical attention and other forms of restitution are made to her”, the Governor added.

The Governor also clarified that the State’s Security Outfit, Agunechemba, is doing a great job by securing lives and property around the State. However, those who engage in excesses like the recent assault on the corps member will be prosecuted and dealt with accordingly, as his Government prioritizes the welfare of all Ndi Anambra and residents of the State.

“We thank Agunechemba for keeping Anambra safe, but when there are excesses, we stand up to say no, because we have put mechanisms in place to check these excesses through periodic trainings of our officers,” Soludo said.

The Anambra State Government has risen up to the occasion of insecurity in the State with the launch of the Homeland Security Act, and the Governor has reassured its citizens to curtail excesses whenever the need arises.
