Governor Soludo's ANSEC Cautions Against Misinformation and Disinformation In Anambra State.

Governor Soludo's ANSEC Cautions Against Misinformation and Disinformation In Anambra State.

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and members of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) have cautioned against the spread of misinformation and disinformation, urging citizens to rely on credible sources for information and to verify facts before sharing.

The Council's decision aims to promote a peaceful and informed environment, particularly in the lead-up to the upcoming elections in Anambra State.

The State Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, said ANSEC made this known at its 17th meeting held on 7th August, 2025, at the Light House Awka, where other important matters of state's interest were also agreed upon.

The move is also aimed at preventing the dissemination of fake news, which may have the potential to cause disorder in the state.

The governor's move in ensuring peace in Anambra led to the Homeland Security Law, which birthed the state security system, Agunaechemba, and the Operation Udo Ga-Ach force, designed to complement the efforts of the existing law enforcement agencies in combating crime, with a zero-tolerance philosophy.

In light of this, the Homeland Security Law has defined roles and responsibilities for security supervisory committees at various levels to oversee operations and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, and strict regulations against kidnapping, banditry, and illicit drug trade.

This includes the unlawful use of properties for criminal activities, clear mandates on landlords, property owners, and hospitality businesses to ensure due diligence in tenant and guest identification, offenses, and penalties to deter crime and enhance enforcement mechanisms, among others.

The cooperation of traditional and civil institutions was also needed for the actualisation of a crime-free state, considering their pivotal roles in fighting crimes and restoring sanity in society.

In pursuit of the fight against crime, many kidnappers have been arrested and hideouts demolished, with successful raids for criminals at Ozubulu, Isiagu, Oba, and Nnewi, among other places in Anambra.

The eight Local Government Areas, namely Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North, Orumba South, and Ogbaru, which were under siege before the advent of Governor Soludo's government, have also been freed by the security network.
