Super Falcons Join Seven Others as WAFCON 2026 Quarter-final Line-up is Confirmed

The race for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations title has entered the knockout stage, with the Super Falcons of Nigeria securing their place in the quarter-finals after an emphatic 6-2 victory over Egypt on the final day of the group stage. The final round of group-stage fixtures produced plenty of drama across the four groups as teams battled for the remaining quarter-final places. Hosts Morocco and Algeria progressed from Group A after Morocco played out a goalless draw against Senegal, while Algeria defeated Kenya 2-0 to seal qualification.

Group B also went down to the wire. Ivory Coast edged Tanzania 2-1 to finish top of the group, while South Africa booked their place in the last eight with a narrow 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso.

Nigeria produced one of the standout performances of Matchday Three, putting six goals past Egypt in a thrilling 6-2 victory. The Super Falcons responded in style after their earlier setback in the competition, finishing the group stage with six points. Malawi also secured qualification from Group C despite a 2-1 defeat to Zambia, doing enough across their three matches to finish first in the group and join Nigeria in the last eight. 

Group D proved equally competitive, with Cameroon and Ghana sharing the points in a 1-1 draw, while Mali and Cape Verde also played out a 1-1 stalemate. Cameroon and Ghana advanced to the quarter-finals to complete the final eight.
