Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has tasked the newly installed Awujako of Ijako in Yewa North Local Government Area, Oba Alabi Ewedairo, to engage in activities that would bring continuous progress to the community.
Prince Abiodun who made the call while presenting the Staff of Office to the Monarch, said the royal throne was an opportunity to improve the welfare of his people, adding that such would make him stamp his footprint on the sands of time.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, the Governor noted that Obas are known to wield great influence, power and authority, as they are held in high esteem by their subjects, urging Oba Ewedairo to accelerate the pace of socio-economic development of the area.
“See your appointment as a call to service and concentrate on the task of accelerating the pace of socio-economic development of Ijako and Yewaland, by mobilising your people in such a manner that their efforts will complement the initiative of our administration. In performing this onerous task, you will need the support of your people, so, be a father to all, irrespective of their political, religious and social inclinations”, Governor Abiodun said.
He called on the entire people of Awujako to continue to accord the Monarch, the needed cooperation at developing the socio-cultural lives in the community.
In his remark, Oba Ewedairo appreciated the developmental strides of Governor Abiodun, calling for peace, unity and harmony from different quarters.
Also speaking, the Chief Imam of Ijako, Abdul Fatai Akewuyanju, expressed gratitude to the Governor for installing the new Oba in the community after six years, calling on the government to provide more infrastructures in the area, to attract investors.
