OOU PIONEER IMAM, A FORTHRIGHT PERSONALITY -DEP.GOV

  

Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele has described the outgoing Imam of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, as a trustworthy, dedicated, pious and conscientious man, whose virtue is worthy of emulation.


Engr. Salako-Oyedele said this at the retirement ceremony in honour of the Professor and the turbaning of new Chief Imam, at OOU main campus, Ago-Iwoye, stating that the pioneer Chief Iman, had contributed immensely to the development of the Muslim community of the institution.

The Deputy Governor who noted that his leadership and forthrightness had impacted lives positively, prayed to Almighty Allah for long life and good health for the renowned scholar, admonishing the incoming Imam, Dr. Abdulhakeem Akanni to follow the footsteps of his predecessor.

"As an Imam of almost forty years, one can only imagine the number of lives he has impacted positively. The result is everywhere for everyone to see and judge", she said.

In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Senator Adegbenga Kaka, congratulated the honouree, commended his steadfastness, commitment and dedication to the teaching and propagation of Islam, saying ‘’but for his effort, many born and bred in the religion would have derailed”.

Also Speaking, the Vice Chancellor of OOU and Chief host, Prof. Ganiyu Olatunde, appreciated God for his benevolence in the life of the celebrant, saying his wealth of experience has been a guiding light to many in Ago-Iwoye town.

Highlights of the event were tributes from friends, families, host community, citations from the Holy Quran and launching of a book on the honouree.
