OUR RESOLVE TO PROVIDE QUALITY HEALTHCARE FOR OGUN RESIDENTS UNWAVERING-OGSG

The desire of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration to provide efficient health care services for residents of Ogun State is one of the reasons behind establishing the State Health Insurance Agency (OGSIA) and the administration will do all within its capacity to ensure a seamless operation of the Agency.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker made this known while speaking at the opening ceremony of a three-day workshop to develop operational guideline and validate the benefit package of the Basic Health Care Fund, at Ijebu-Ode, said a good health insurance system is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.

Coker said the present government would ensure people do not pay out of their pockets to treat common ailments, adding that the process which started with the enrolment of the vulnerable, would focus on the formal and informal sectors.

"The vision of our Governor Dapo Abiodun is to achieve Universal Health Coverage. We are here to develop a document that will guide us towards achieving this goal. The guideline will also make us accountable. The minimum benefit which we will deliver to our people include malaria, hypertension, diabetes, sickle cell and tuberculosis diseases, among others", she said.

The Commissioner therefore called on all stakeholders to key into the programme and collaborate with the government in achieving the benefit of the Universal Health Coverage and Health Insurance Scheme.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Adesanya Ayinde, expressed optimism that the implementation of the Universal Health Coverage would boost health indices and profile of the State.
