OVER 70 PROJECTS COMMISSIONED ACCROSS 20 LGAs IN SIX MONTHS

  

In fulfilment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration’s promise to have a project executed in each ward of the State, a record of over 75 projects have been commissioned in the last six months, across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State.


Governor Dapo Abiodun who stated this while commissioning 500KVA, 33/0.415KVA Transformer at ward 6, Oloka-Afon, 500KVA, 33/0.415KVA Transformer at Ward 5, Ilara and a block of two classrooms with office accommodation at Community Primary School, Oke-Agbede, Ward 2, in Imeko Afon LGA, said the projects would bring about vibrant infrastructural and human development in the State.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape stated that the projects were the last set to be done in the first phase of the exercise in the council area, noting that it would not relent in empowering them to be more active and productive.

“This is just the first phase of the exercise, we are starting another one soon. Our target is to have projects commissioned in each of the  236 wards, aside those being handled by the State. Every council should be vibrant enough to take care of its citizens and give them opportunity to enjoy dividends of democracy”, the Governor said.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Imeko-Afon, Chief Olusola Oke lauded the Governor for the exemplary initiative to make the Local Government more functional, as well as improving the living standard of the people.

Speaking, the Chairman, Oke-Agbede Community Development Association said the additional classrooms at Community Primary School, Oke-Agbede, was timely, urging the government to beef up security to safeguard the lives of pupils and staff in the school.
